De Stad Moet Plat

World War II Online Graphic Novel

'What do I stand up for?' is the central question of De Stad Moet Plat, a graphic novel about the strike in Amsterdam and other Dutch cities in 1941. To reach a younger audience I drew colourful illustrations for this story by studio Hyper Epic.

The strike was a reaction to the oppression and persecution of Jewish people by the nazi regime, and the graphic novel shows the different perspectives of this powerful story of resistance.

We see the strike through the eyes of protesters, bystanders, Jewish people, and even from the side of the Dutch fascists and German occupiers.

The graphic novel won the bronze prize at the Dutch Creativity Awards 2022 in the category illustration.
