Map of Gaul

Prop design

I was asked to make a map design of Gaul at the time of Ceasar that was to be used in a historical television show for children.

After some research, I quickly found out that Roman mapmaking at the time was quite rudimentary, to say the least, with landmasses and seas bending and warping to make optimal use of space. Though this is certainly visually striking, I ended up approaching it differently, taking inspiration from the Roman style but modernising it to make it instantly recognisable to the audience.
