Illustrated medical metaphors

Medifoor is an online platform where doctors can find visual metaphors for afflictions, diseases and the body in general. Doctors will use these to help make themselves clear to patients, and through that foster a more equal conversation.

I illustrated several of these metaphors, such as an aneurism as a bursting bike tire, hormones as carrier pigeons, and thrombosis represented as a car crash.

It has been really fun to work closely with health specialists to capture all the nuances of afflictions, while keeping the imagery approachable and non-frightening to patients.
