Anti-Abolitionism in the Netherlands

Cover images for a charged historical publication

The BMGN - Low Countries Historical Review looked at the anti-abolitionists, those opposed to ending slavery, in the Netherlands of the 17th and 18th centuries. What were the reasons for the Netherlands being the last European country to ban slavery? What took them so long, and what were the powers that kept this heinous practice intact?

I designed both the front and back cover of the issue, with the two sides showing the struggle between abolitionism and its enemies.
