To reach a younger audience I drew colourful illustrations for this story by studio Hyper Epic. The strike was a reaction to the oppression and persecution of Jewish people by the nazi regime, and the graphic novel shows the different perspectives of this powerful story of resistance. We see the strike through the eyes of protesters, bystanders, Jewish people, and even from the side of the Dutch fascists and German occupiers. The graphic novel won the bronze prize at the Dutch Creativity Awards 2022 in the category illustration. <img width="2300" height="3051" width_o="2300" height_o="3051" Che Guevara: the revolutionary, the guerilla, the communist. We imagine him gun in hand crouching in a jungle; or lounging with a thick cigar behind his desk; or perhaps nowadays we see him printed on some meaningless merchandise, a T-shirt or a tote bag. He was, however, also an intellectual and avid reader - his backpack always full with literature and poetry. Whoever came to visit him, he told: bring me books. In Winnen of Sterven historian Marco Baars intertwines the story of Che’s life with the poetry he loved. I illustrated the journey of the guerilla fighter, from his youth in Argentina to the final day in a rural school building in Bolivia. For the occasion, they wanted to highlight three stories from these documents. One about Utrecht being granted to its first bishop Willibrord, a second one about the craftsmen that toiled to built the Dom church, and a final one about the church obtaining a holy arm bone. documentary by Jaap van Eyck that explores why the Netherlands had the highest percentage of Jewish victims in Western Europe. The personal story of journalist Max Arian - who survived the war in hiding - forms the emotional backbone of the film. Since such stories were never captured on camera, illustration played a key role in bringing these memories to life. &nbsp; I was responsible for the visual design: sketching out the storylines, creating the illustrations, and animated key sequences myself. The amazing team at Moldybyrd Studio supported the animation process, helping me to bring the full story to life. I provided visuals for two articles: one about Dutch colonialism and neocolonialism, and one about the Dutch War of Independence.
