The historical graphic novel for high school classrooms

Graphic novel De Stad Moet Plat (DSMP) was made with the explicit intent to tell the story of the February strike of 1941 to a new generation. To that end, a package of teaching materials was developed to go along with it.

In addition to slides and assignments, the students are tasked with “finding traces of the past” as they bike though the city to find the sites of Jewish deportations, nazi headquarters, communist gatherings, and more. The map I make highlights the six locations, each represented by one of the characters of the graphic novel.
